I want to become a singer but i just need advice to how to become one?

I just found out that i could sing like last year when i was in grade 10. and i am really am desperate about becoming a singer. i cant stop thinking about it. like everyday i always dream of my slef becoming a singer. the problem is that i wanted to try out for Canadian Idol this year beucase i turned 16 but they stopped cause of economy issues and i was upset because i wanted to start my career early like as soon that high school ended. i joined music cl so that i could get some knowledge about theory stuff and more experience. i am a huge fan of Kelly Clarkson and i always listen to a music and "train" myslef becuase she is a wicked singer. somethng i am having trouble with is singing in front of people becuase my voice doesnt sound good like the way i sing by myslef. i sounds rough. a talent show is coming up and i want to sing sooo badly but i am scared of what i might do on stage. Please can any one give meee advice and can any one tell me if there is any clubs in Canada Ont, city,Markham, that allows singing soul or pop music or anything. i just need to show people that i could sing. and i need some advice on maintaining my voice so that i dont get a sore throat...
